It is the beginning of October and squash season has arrived! Hopefully everyone had a good summer training and getting ready for this upcoming season. The PSA is back in swing now with the US Open coming up, leagues are starting - it is an exciting time!
My league starts up in a couple of weeks and I am really looking forward to it. It will be nice to get the competitive juices flowing again. We have an abundance of players so not only am I going to be getting competitive matches against the other teams in our league I will be getting meaningful matches from my fellow teammates. We run our team like a ladder with the top 5 players that are available each week getting to play. It really forces you to focus on all of your matches. It is good because it keeps you sharp for the games against other teams.
My summer was not the greatest for squash as I was suffering an injury that was slowing me down a great deal. Thankfully I am able to play now at pretty much 100%. It is great to have my movement back! It certainly makes the game more enjoyable. I am looking forward to digging balls out now that surprise my opponents rather than giving up easy points as I could not cover a shot that I normally could. It makes a big difference and I am looking forward to that translating in to more points, more games and more wins!
I hope everyone else is looking forward to this upcoming squash season as much as I am. Good luck and enjoy the squash season!
